AHP Publishes White Paper on Improving Behavioral Health Workforce Development in Accountable Care Organizations

Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) looking to achieve full integration of behavioral and primary care, along with positive results in terms of health outcomes, quality of care, and costs, are the focus of a white paper just released by Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) titled Health, Behavioral Health, and Social Services Workforce Development: How to Recruit, Retain, and Grow a High-Performing Workforce.

ACOs are a major player in the healthcare system. As of January 2020, America had 558 Medicare ACOs serving more than 12.3 million beneficiaries, in addition to hundreds of commercial and Medicaid ACOs covering millions of members, according to the National Association of ACOs. To offer outstanding care for all these patients, ACOs must find and keep exceptional healthcare providers in a very competitive field; AHP’s new white paper explains how.

AHP’s nationally recognized systems-change and ACO experts created the white paper to share three key conditions in workforce development that support ACOs in achieving their goals for delivering top-quality care and achieving better outcomes and decreased costs.

The white paper details key ACO goals, such as care coordination, value-based reimbursement and clinical integration, and introduces the three key workforce development conditions for achieving them:

  1. Manage corporate communications to brand the ACO as a talent magnet
  2. Motivate the people who are the essential drivers of the organization
  3. Maximize ACO finances that support a robust workforce development program and lead to organizational growth
The white paper is available at no cost at https://www.ahpnet.com/Special-Pages/HCS_ACOs.
