AHP Named a Great Place to Work for the Fifth Straight Year

Certification is a significant achievement and one in which AHP leadership takes great pride. Great Place to Work® is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience and the leadership behaviors proven to deliver market-leading revenue and increased innovation.

AHP earned this credential based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in anonymous surveys. AHP’s overall score increased one percentage point from last year, the fifth annual increase in a row. The company’s “This is a great place to work” score increased by two percentage points, to 89%. Two key areas, “management keeps me informed about issues and changes” and “we have special and unique benefits here,” both increased significantly, by 10 and 12 percentage points respectively. Changes introduced over the past year include flexible schedules to give Fridays off during the summer, virtual and in-person opportunities for community volunteering and all-company virtual meetings during COVID-19 with take-out lunches reimbursed for staff.

Ratings for the company improved across the board from 2018, with the highest and most significant scores relating to inclusivity, flexibility, and workplace pride. A large majority (95%) “feel good about the ways AHP contributes to the community,” feel that “people care about each other” and “management would only lay people off only as a last resort;” 99% feel the AHP workplace is a “physically safe environment,” and 96% say customers would “rate the service we deliver as excellent.”

“We are thrilled to once again be recognized as a Great Place to Work, as our company mission is to help people reach their full potential — including staff,” said Neal Shifman, AHP president and CEO. “This has been a challenging year for all workplaces, but our leadership and staff have consistently put employee health and wellness at the forefront of business decision-making. I think this is reflected in this year’s survey results. With AHP’s focus on helping to improve public health in America and to better the quality of life in our communities, we are grateful to have such a passionate and dedicated group of professionals at AHP.”

Jim Klepper, AHP Human Resources director, added, “Talented, dedicated experts in the fields of behavioral and public health join, stay and grow with AHP because we work to foster their success and ensure they attain a beneficial work–life balance. This year, we’ve added benefits to help staff through the pandemic, particularly making sure we listen to their concerns and offer ways to stay connected with each other and the company.”
