AHP has been announced as one of 125+ organizations across the country that are part of the Action Collaborative on Countering the U.S. Opioid Epidemic, a network led by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM).
 
AHP, with headquarters in Massachusetts, has extensive experience addressing issues on the forefront of the epidemic, including criminal justice, community clinics, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), homelessness, statewide strategies, recovery, and workforce development.
 
As a participating network organization, AHP will actively support and contribute to the collaborative by providing input on activities and partnering in new efforts to develop, curate, and disseminate multisector solutions to reduce opioid misuse and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
 
Patrick Gauthier, director of AHP’s Healthcare Solutions Division, said, “Due to AHP's national leadership on MAT for opioids with the criminal justice population, community clinics, youth, veterans, people experiencing homelessness, statewide strategies, and workforce development, we can offer a multidisciplinary approach that enables us to intervene and guide interested stakeholders just about anywhere in the United States.”
 
AHP’s work around opioids includes the following:

• operating the Massachusetts Access to Recovery (ATR) program, a Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services program that supports state residents in early recovery from opioid use disorder, including those with criminal justice involvement. In the last month, ATR reached a milestone of 22,000 participants/graduates.
• managing the California Youth Opioid Response, designed to strengthen capacity and access to prevention, treatment, and recovery services, as well as access points to MAT, for youth and their families.
• administering the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners project for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, which assists state, local, and tribal governments in the development and implementation of substance abuse treatment programs in their correctional and detention facilities.
• providing members of the National Association of Home Builders with outreach and engagement campaigns to educate the construction workforce on opioid misuse through media, including public relations campaigns, websites, webinars and podcasts, virtual and onsite workshops, and more. Education addresses prevention, intervention, and recovery support in the workplace.
