“We expected strong growth in 2014, and we have seen it play out,” said Neal Shifman, AHP President and CEO. “Recognizing the impact of federal budget management issues on the agencies we work with, we were prepared to address RFPs across a wide range of opportunities, drawing on our technical and subject matter expertise and working with our partners to respond quickly and effectively.”

 Government Contracts and Grants

• The Behavioral Health and HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance Center: Awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to AHP, with partners Altarum Institute and the Danya Institute, to provide technical assistance and training that increases integration of behavioral health prevention and treatment services, including HIV and viral hepatitis, as well as expands substance abuse prevention and treatment services, particularly those integrating HIV and viral hepatitis prevention services.
• Exploring Social Innovation Financing Opportunities with the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund: Awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Community Health and Prevention, to AHP, to conduct a feasibility study of the interventions and evidence-based practices that are part of the Massachusetts Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund.
• The Intersection of Violence against Women and HIV/AIDs:A Cross-Training Guide for Service Providers: Awarded by the federal Office on Women’s Health to AHP to promote cross training of agencies involved in HIV/AIDS and domestic violence services to enhance prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS for the at-risk population of women victimized by intimate partners.
• Justice Health Leadership Connection: Awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance Encouraging Innovation: Field Initiated Program to the Legal Action Center with partner AHP to maximize justice-involved individuals’ access to services available through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).
• Massachusetts Access to Recovery IV: Awarded by Massachusetts Department of Public Health/Bureau of Substance Abuse Services to AHP to give people with substance use disorders in Hampden and Suffolk counties wider access to community services and help them recover.
• Northeast Homeless Project: Awarded by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s to The Institute for Health and Recovery with partner AHP to increase access to behavioral health services and conduct an evaluation of the program.
• Recovery to Practice: Awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to AHP with partners including the Center for Social Innovation and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene to provide educational material and technical assistance that help promote and support recovery-oriented approaches in integrated and multidisciplinary settings.
• Homeless and Housing Resource Network Contract Modification: Awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to AHP to increase technical assistance and training for states and territories.
• Support for the Annual Collection of the Bureau of Primary Health Care and Bureau of Health Professions Uniform Data System Contract Modification: Awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care to AHP with partner JSI, to expand support for the number and types of health facilities included in yearly data collection.

Commercial Contracts

• Financial/Contracts Process Improvement Assessment: Awarded to AHP by a provider of services to children and families to evaluate revenue cycle performance and identify potential cost savings across the business.
• Business Plan for Developing an Independent Practice Association (IPA): Awarded to AHP by a collaborative of intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) providers to explore building a network based on an IPA model.
• Rate Setting for Behavioral Health Services: Awarded to AHP by a Midwestern provider association to develop a set of recommendations for cost rates of behavioral health for use in lobbying efforts to adjust provider rates in the state.
• Productivity Project: Awarded by an integrated I/DD provider to analyze clinical workflow and make improvements that positively impact revenue models.
