Kathleen West, DrPH

Senior Program Director

Kathleen West, DrPH, is a senior program director for Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) with more than 30 years of experience in the areas of behavioral health, veterans, drug courts, intergenerational trauma, epigenetics, gender-appropriate substance use services, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). She is currently the project director for AHP’s Behavioral Health Workforce Development (BHWD) initiative with the California Department of Health Care Services, helping to expand access to equitable behavioral health care for underserved populations across the state. The BHWD provides training and technical assistance (TTA) as well as serving as the administrative entity for more than 300 grantees throughout California. 

Dr. West also recently served as the Project Director for the California SOR II Hub and Spoke System project working with the state’s Narcotic Treatment Programs and buprenorphine prescribers to help enhance services and expand MAT access in California. She also served as the co-director for TTA for the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (COAP), funded through the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance to support COAP grantees, as well as other programs throughout the United States that are interested in expanding MAT to jail populations and community correctional staff and reentry programming. Dr. West received her DrPH in population and family health, reproductive epidemiology, and health policy from the University of California, Los Angeles.
