Starla Journet, B.A.

Research Assistant
Starla Journet, B.A., is a research assistant for Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) and assists the Research and Evaluation Chicago Team in projects such as EIL-IFR, IL-IFR, and IL-SOR. Starla is a passionate research professional with experience in social equity, sexual assault, and environmental justice/sustainability research. She was deeply involved in these projects as a student research assistant at North Central College and presented findings of a research project titled “Neighborhood Effects: An Ethnographic Study of the South Loop, Pilsen, and Austin Neighborhoods in Chicago” at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research. Another project was entitled “Victim’s Visibility of #MeToo Tweets” at the Midwest Sociological Society Conference. She co-authored a research article entitled “Predictors of #MeToo Victims’ Visibility on Twitter” that is currently under review for the Violence Against Women Journal. She is a proud member of the American Sociological Association since 2021. Starla holds a B.A. in sociology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
