Phyllis Coletta, J.D., a senior writer with Advocates for Human Potential (AHP), brings a wealth of experience in writing and advocacy, with a background in law, health care, and education. A seasoned former litigation attorney, Ms. Coletta offers writing that is fact-based, powerful, and persuasive. With a passion for supporting underserved populations, particularly in mental and behavioral health, she draws from “boots on the ground” healthcare experience working in an emergency room environment where she created a program that brought highly trained volunteers into the emergency room to support behavioral and mental health patients. As a certified teacher of high school language arts, Ms. Coletta is adept at presenting information in a clear and accessible way, engaging readers in the kind of storytelling and data presentation that ignites action and engagement. She has personal passion and expertise in issues around substance use, addiction, rural health care, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive teaching.
