Senior Program Associate II
Candice Russell is a senior program associate II for Advocates for Human Potential’s (AHP’s) Center for Technical Assistance and Training. Ms. Russell is a behavioral health research professional who conducts advocacy and research to influence health policy related to mental health and addiction disorders. Ms. Russell joined AHP after working as a research associate at the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), a nonprofit organization providing substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and prevention advocacy, research, and policy analysis for single state agencies (SSAs). While there, she conducted research, such as state-specific case studies, conducted analysis of policy and state-specific SUD treatment and prevention regulations, developed written briefs/white papers, and coordinated technical assistance for SSAs, federal stakeholders, and various state representatives that aimed to increase and improve workforce development and culturally competent and gender-specific services for SUD treatment and recovery providers. Her areas of expertise include adolescent co-occurring disorders and mental health/SUD treatment for pregnant and parenting women (PPW). She is an experienced researcher, writer, and editor with knowledge of behavioral health evidence-based practices. Ms. Russell received her B.S. in psychology from George Mason University.
