Margaret Murphy’s background includes extensive experience in the coordination of training programs on numerous federal contracts, planning and development of conferences and meetings, and recruitment and coordination of speakers and themes. Ms. Murphy has provided training and technical assistance to coalitions at all government levels on how to address and prevent substance abuse and violence related problems. Her experience with diverse communities is exemplified by her work with the Massachusetts Governor’s Task Force on Hate Crimes, for which she created a plan based on best practices to encourage the reporting of hate crimes, then trained community leaders to participate in the statewide effort. She also helped Providence, Rhode Island, build its capacity for substance abuse prevention by developing and delivering training to city staff and teen leaders on how to decrease factors that increase the risk of substance abuse and develop life skills. Ms. Murphy is experienced in conducting market research and also consults with non-profits and other clients on fundraising through private and government sources. She has developed training materials and authored manuals on volunteer and board management.
