Alan Marzilli has extensive experience in mental health policy issues as well as writing, training, and curriculum design. He has conducted training in 30 states and territories and has designed three training curricula that are used nationally to educate people about mental health, housing, and support services issues. These include a curriculum for the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) on involving people with mental illnesses in planning housing and other supports necessary for community integration; a curriculum for the National Mental Health Consumers’ Self-Help Clearinghouse (NMHCSHC), a CMHS-funded technical assistance center, on self-advocacy for people with mental illnesses; and a curriculum for NMHCSHC on peer-run mental health support services. Mr. Marzilli currently is contributing to and editing training materials for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Supported Housing resource kit. He also has contributed to the literature review and materials for the SAMHSA resource kit on Consumer-Operated Services.  He is the former Program Director of the NMHCSHC and also managed a peer advocacy and grassroots-organizing program for the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania.  He is the author of 12 nonfiction books on law, public policy, and criminal justice.
