Denise Lang is field coordinator for the Effective Adolescent Treatment Initiative, for which she manages the data collection process and is the primary interviewer, and for the Assertive Adolescent Family Treatment grant, for which she manages data submissions. She recently completed a similar effort for the Co-Occurring Disorders Study. Prior to joining AHP, Ms. Lang had 10 years of direct care and supervisory experience in the mental health and social work fields. She worked in a transitional program for homeless individuals who suffer from serious, persistent mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, and as a bilingual caseworker providing short-term counseling and case management services to adolescents, families, and children. Additionally, she provided training on adolescent issues and the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), was a substance abuse counselor for patients in a methadone maintenance/detox program, and was a facilitator in a Batterers’ Intervention Program group. Ms. Lang is bilingual and bicultural (Spanish).
