INVOLUNTARY TREATMENT: WASHINGTON STATE SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVE Involuntary Treatment: Washington State System Transformation Initiative AHP is partnering with TriWest Group to consult with the State of Washington regarding possible reforms to its involuntary treatment statutes. This review includes a legal and literature review and a comparative analysis of State civil commitment laws. The project also includes extensive focus groups and key informant interviews to identify ways in which the use of civil commitment could be minimized, including the development of specialized services in the community for special populations and those at risk of incarceration. The project includes a dedicated chapter regarding the needs and concerns of Tribal governments and their members.
