COMMUNITY CARE RECOVERY INSTITUTE Integrating Principles of Recovery into Community Care Behavioral health Organization (CCBH), Pennsylvania AHP, in partnership with Pat Deegan & Associates, is collaborating with Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (CCBH), to assist in their system-wide effort to implement recovery at all levels of their behavioral health service system. CCBH operates in 34 Counties within 5 regions, representing more than of Pennsylvania’s counties. Based in Pittsburgh, CCBH is the largest, nonprofit managed care organization in the country and has a mission to provide recovery oriented services throughout its Medicaid behavioral health care services. The initiative includes on and off-site consultation, training, mentoring, web site, and infrastructure development to support the organization’s goal to shift the system to a recovery orientation. The approach is multi-level and multi-dimensional, with simultaneous activities affecting different parts of the system, including within CCBH itself. It is designed to transform attitudes, impart knowledge, and build skills. The methods incorporate the leadership of people with psychiatric disabilities at all levels of the transformation effort – as advisors, co-trainers, peer specialists, and consultants, and include them in all training and technical assistance events.
