CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS EMPLOYMENT TA (CHETA)

Chronic Homelessness Employment TA (CHETA) Center
AHP is collaborating with The Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) under a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) cooperative agreement to form the Chronic Homelessness Employment Technical Assistance (CHETA) Center. Through assistance to grantees, the ultimate goal of the CHETA project is to increase employment outcomes for people with disabilities who have been homeless, while they maintain housing stability. The CHETA Initiative helps awardees demonstrate the potential of “customized employment” strategies, and maximize partnerships with mainstream workforce development systems, including one-stop career centers involving representatives of key disability and homeless serving agencies.
AHP provides comprehensive, proactive TA to grantees currently operating “Ending Chronic Homelessness Through Housing and Employment” (H&E) programs located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland (OR), Indianapolis, and Boston. AHP has developed site assessment protocols and delivered on-site and off-site training and TA to all sites in the areas of employment and housing development, as well as organizational and project management. AHP also has conducted a monthly series of national training teleconference presentations; developed and delivered a 5-day intensive training institute on Customized Employment and a training program on Tenant Leadership; developed several Issue Briefs and White Papers on employment for the chronically homeless, including a white paper briefing document for USDOL senior staff on promising practices/lessons learned from the five demonstration projects, a survey and a new skills assessment tool.
