RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND DISSEMINATION

AHP’s resource development and dissemination activities support major initiatives that represent key policy areas for federal agencies and offices. For example:

• AHP has published a series of reports designed to help communities remove barriers to community integration for children, adults, and older adults with psychiatric disabilities. These efforts support the President’s New Freedom Initiative and the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Olmstead v. L.C.

• AHP staff helped draft two key documents for SAMHSA: The Report to Congress on the Prevention and Treatment of Co-occurring Substance Abuse Disorders and Mental Disorders, and the Blueprint for Change: Ending Chronic Homelessness for Persons with Serious Mental Illnesses and/or Co-occurring Substance Use Disorders.

• AHP’s writers are regularly called on to draft meeting summaries, write speeches, and develop newsletters for federal agencies and offices.
