TASC MENTALLY ILL OFFENDER (MIO) PROGRAM

TASC Mentally Ill Offender (MIO) Program

This project was an effort to identify expert information and promising practices for Chicago’s Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities (TASC) program. The goal was to inform the development of an impending pilot initiative for mentally ill felons by identifying key experts, promising programs, and relevant research which could enhance services and ensure that the MIO Initiative was implemented as effectively as possible. The project included reviewing and synthesizing the most recent empirical research; interviewing recognized practitioners/ leading program experts; compiling program descriptions for a selection of the most promising initiatives; and identifying and reviewing existing instruments/protocols used by these programs. AHP synthesized findings in a written report; furnished a compendium of all relevant materials; and conducted a full-day meeting in Chicago to review findings and discuss their implications for program model revision and implementation.
