TRENDS IN MENTAL HEALTH TRANSFORMATION

CMHS Mental Health Block Grant: Report on Trends in Transformation
AHP designed and developed a report that highlighted the variety of ways States and Territories responded to the challenging goals and recommendations of the President’s New Freedom Commission, including ways in which the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funding is facilitating this response. The report, contracted by the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is based on information States provide during regional peer reviews of each State's Mental Health Plan for Block Grant funding, as well as through their applications for CMHS block grant funding and related implementation reports. For each year of the contract, AHP developed a summary profile analyzing progress and issues across States in their implementation of the New Freedom Commission goals, as well as profiles for each individual State.
In developing the report, an AHP writer attended each of the five consultative regional peer reviews to ask questions of State representatives and facilitate a daily networking session to share perspectives on trends. AHP designed a format and developed profiles for each of the 50 States and nine Territories.
