SITE VISITS

Site Visits to Monitor Implementation of the PATH Program
The federal Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) contracts with
AHP to conduct site visits to states to monitor the administration and
implementation of the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness
(PATH) formula grant program. AHP has conducted more than a dozen of
these visits, using a site visit protocol developed by AHP and CMHS to
conduct interviews with the state PATH administrator, other state officials,
PATH project management, and staff and consumers of PATH services. The
current contract with CMHS also includes requirements to 1) document
best practices related to outreach; 2) evaluate whether the site visits
are beneficial for state PATH administrators; 3) follow up on any additional
technical assistance needs identified during the site visits; and 4)
prepare a report on the states’ follow-up and implementation of
recommendations made by the site visit team.
