Senior Writer
Susan Hills, Ph.D. is a Senior Writer at AHP and an experienced writer, facilitator, and instructional designer.
For 25 years, Dr. Hills has developed handbooks, protocols, training programs, fact sheets, policy reports, and other documents related to substance abuse prevention and treatment,
co-occurring disorders, mental health, and the legal rights of persons with disabilities.
At AHP, Dr. Hills helped design and edit Evidence-Based Practice KITs for SAMHSA on supportive housing and consumer-operated services and programs.
She has also conducted interviews, researched and edited articles, and completed conference reports for SAMHSA, as well as writing and editing manuals in collaboration with SAMHSA grantees
to help others replicate their work. She was lead writer for two Mental Health Block Grant Trends Reports for the Center for Mental Health Services that analyzed State trends related to the achievement of
New Freedom Commission goals. Prior to joining AHP, Dr. Hills edited portions of 10 different Treatment Improvement Protocols (TIPs) for CSAT, including serving as associate editor for TIP 42 on co-occurring disorders.
