Director of Women, Children and Families
Deborah Werner serves as a Senior Program Manager and as the Project Director for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Women, Children and Families Technical Assistance Project at Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. Since 1989, Ms. Werner has been engaged in efforts to improve substance abuse, domestic violence, public health and homeless services for women, families and communities. She has led training initiatives, provided strategic consultation to strengthen organizations, launched programs, coached leaders and executives, advocated for improved policies, delivered services, and spear-headed community based initiatives. She is the co-creator, director and facilitator of SAMHSA’s Women’s Addiction Services Leadership Institute. Ms. Werner’s previous positions include serving as the Associate Director, at Beyond Shelter, Inc. and as the Executive Director of the California Women’s Commission on Alcohol and Drug Dependencies. Ms. Werner holds a Master of Arts Degree in Urban Planning from the University of California, L.A. and a Bachelor of Arts and Certificate in Women’s Studies from the University of Maryland.
