Patrick Gauthier

Over the course of twenty years in the behavioral health field, Patrick Gauthier has held key roles in adolescent residential treatment programs, family preservation programs, and acute inpatient settings. For more than 10 years, he served as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for a national managed behavioral healthcare organization where, among other responsibilities, he oversaw the implementation of mental health parity among Federal and State employees. For the State of Idaho, Mr. Gauthier managed the Access to Recovery program, handling clinical audits, claims processing, care management, data collection, and outsourcing. He also oversaw planning for financial sustainability with a wide array of community stakeholders, including Tribal governments, faith-based providers, and community-based organizations.

Mr. Gauthier’s operations experience and expertise includes managed crisis-call center operations, utilization management, case management, and provider contracting functions. His consulting background includes executive consultant and project management roles with some of the largest behavioral health systems in the country. His project experience in those roles features enterprise-wide business process redesign, information technology assessments and strategic planning, as well as large-scale system integration. His specific subject matter expertise includes behavioral health information systems and data management, quality improvement, and social marketing to underserved populations.

His career has explored all aspects of building successful public-private partnerships with State and County behavioral health systems in frontier, rural, and urban settings around the country. His executive experience has included strategic business planning, enterprise alignment, and operations performance management. Today, his sights are set on the design and effective deployment of programs that properly align the resources and incentives of behavioral health payers, providers, and clients. His particular approach to alignment and improvement in behavioral health settings involves focusing on integration of programs and financing, business process redesign, and the creation of efficiencies that maintain values.
